~The Tile Tango~

The options for tile are almost limitless. It is easy to be lured in to the purchase of blending tiles, creating a mix and match elaborate pattern can be very appealing. And yet, so much can be done with a singularity of choice. If budgets are of concern (and most of us know that restraint) remember to pick a tile that can make statement in regards to the feeling or style you are trying to relay for the room.

For the French bath below color was key, in an otherwise simple subway tile. Hanging a decorative metal tile plaque above the bath gives the allure of an expensive tile mosaic. The ledges are created with simple lumber, painted in high gloss sheen matched to the tile color. The cap tile is wood again painted black.

For the Tuscany bath, plain bisque tiles were purchased and a faux paint creations were incorporated in the space to mimic accent tiles. Even the sink was given special attention by creating a wood wrap around and wooden legs, all of which were given a new life in the world of faux artistry!

Contemporary Blending With Rustic Flair

Not every rustic home, such as a log home has rustic furnishings. There are times when rustic applications such as stone and timbers will meet the flair of contemporary styles. In these sketches I show how the love of Italian modern pieces can be brought into the country getaway lifestyle.

~Living Room Tweaking~

Revamped Space

Keeping it cozy in taupe ~ The defining pieces are the chandelier, once brass…no problem, spray painted black it warms up the space. Once heavy drapes replaced now with a simple pumpkin linen. Once red brick was too brash, answer..Paint! The finale to this room was not to simply disguise a no longer used fireplace, but to make the space work…just in a different way. A custom designed unit was built to complete the “meant to always be here” look of the new audio/visual unit!
