She Sings of MyChicThings

She gently padded…
Across the floor…
Paused just a moment…
As she moved to the door.

Moistened skin so crystalline…
Perfumed her still…
From the bath…
Of which she’d been.

The closet doors…
She flung open wide…
Knowing full well…
What hung inside.

Dresses, shirts, slacks…
Of every color…
And of every hue…
Gold and yellow…
Green and blue…

She heaved a whistful sigh…
While faceted diamond droplets…
Traveled from her bosom…
To her thigh.

But she simply knew…
That nothing in her closet…
For tonight…
Would do.

Then she saw…
A curious sight…
A nicely wrapped box…
Wrapped so bright.

She gave the box a lift…
So excited to have a gift!

Inside she found…
To her surprise…
A silky red dress…
That met her eyes.

Dressed then…
In drop dead red…
She began to sing…
Of the wonderful treasures…
