Rhyme Time Part One Has Now Ended

GAME: Rhyme Time
CREATOR: The Muse
OBJECTIVE: Interactive Fun
PLAYERS: Readers

RULES: The Muse begins the prose…the readers then add to the comment section (one, two, three or four lines) which “add” to the poem. Each reader must use the previous writer’s comments. The Muse, or readers may add to the piece at any time (of course, let’s use decorum and common sense, but have some fun).

EXAMPLE:
Muse writes “The sky is true blue.”
Reader 1 writes “Is it true or just the hue?”
Reader 2 writes “I can see it, why can’t you?”
Muse writes “Perhaps the sky is truly gray.”
Reader 3 writes “Gray? Oh not on this lovely day!”

LET’S PLAY

Greenbriar Gate

Low the fog
Had lain about…

The game has been played (part one) and here is the final prose…ENJOY :)

GREENBRIAR GATE
Low the fog
Had lain about…
A mysterious gray blanket..
of fear and doubt.

Covered the gardens…
And hid the estate…
That sheltered the lady…
As she patiently wait.

For a sight far away…
Into the night…
Her prince will appear…
And bring her delight.

In the evening’s…
Cool moist air…
She caught a glimpse…
Of a strange figure there.

Could it be she sighed..
my long lost love?
The one who was sent
from heaven above.

Heart beating quickly..
Hands pressed against the pane..
Dreams were awakened..
Had hope remained?

The figure moved slowly…
In moonlight of jade…
The silhouette form…
Began to to fade.

Tears filled her eyes…
As she suffered in silent agony…
Longing for the past…
Nevermore to be.

The days of yesteryear…
Had long since come and gone…
She knew he was but a memory…
Lost to her at dawn.

Tears now overflowed,
In the wake of her dream.
The shadow in the fog…
Was it not what it seemed?

But in her heart of hearts…
She knew not to fear…
For while her love was not here…
He would always be near.

And past the Greenbriar Gate…
The love of her spirit soared…
Awaiting in the midsts of heaven…
Loving her forever more.

Can I just throw in that I love third on the right and cold peas’ addition…
Because that’s exactly how I feel about my husband who left after 27 years of marriage and is now married to someone else.
I’m not hung up on him, I just continue to carry him in my heart, with love, knowing he will always be near.
He was and is, after all, the father of my two beautiful children, and my partner in 27 formative years of my life.
Thanks for this poem, Muse, to remind me again of my love for him.

Wow, this was amazing! When I first read it, I had no idea it was written by more than one author…still amazed at how beautifully it turned out! I’m an old English major and have all but forgotten those years so long ago when I thrived on reading poetry. This poem reminded me so much of the poems we read in class…the classics. I LOVE your blog! Susan
