Tablescape Tuesday
hosted by Susan
By now, most of you know that the design team here
loves white china!

It can be used in all types and styles of spaces…from formal to casual…from modern to victorian and everything in between.

Even if a style request is not what you would do for yourself, there are always lessons to learn and challenges to win!

And so, we offer yet, another example :)

The modern touch begins when the square plates are used with the round bowls.

Left as such, that would be fine…
but Muses are tweakers LOL…

so the next step was without question most desirable….!
Chargers.
Can’t find charger
s you like?
Try picture frames
!
1.00 each to 5.00 each

And as you may know, the

selection of frames is by far, greater the selection of chargers!

Next up…
Individual center pieces o

f faux limestone, topped with woodland spheres…bringing nature to the the dining table. I always find that introducing elements that our mind perceives as natural helps ground the setting.

La

stly…
How can you achieve the c
enterpiece look?
Try combining pvc pipe, a hat box, and a bit of theatrical vintage wallpaper.

After cutting the hatbox for the size pvc you desire, cover it with paper, leaving room to slide onto the pvc. Attach your box to the pipe from underneath, so no construction will show.

To keep the pvc sturdy, try filling baggies with sand, flour or other weighty materials.
And insert into the pi
pe.

Here you can see the color or the paper is magnified and repeated in the se
lection of the napkins.

So…

Would you care to dine?

Trash to Treasure
hosted by Diane
Can you believe that an international university student, who found out it would cost X$ to take this cute little dog back home on an airplane, was going to drown him, instead??? My son, his college acquaintance said
“No way!”….

So our youngest called and said…
“Guess what, you a
re a mom again!”
LOL
We would have it no other way :)
It’s 7 yrs and counting…
Say Hello To
Mr M
ax
(our min pin…who is not so “min” LOL )

A Treasure .... ALWAYS !

First of all, Muse, you always do such fascinating table settings with such clever items! This one is no exception. Very neat!

And that DOG! Be still my heart… Mr. Max is so CUTE! I’m so glad he ended up with you as his mother. What a blessed little Min Pin, and he’s not that overweight, Muse. They are overeaters, though. I know that form experience. They used to laugh when we would board ours on occasion because they would leap out of their crate and run, eating every morsel of food on the floor from other crates. They literally swept the floor clean! ;-)

    Great treasure!

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

  • The Quintessential Magpie says:

I know that “from” experience. It’s late, and I’m tired. Hence the typos. LOL!

    Sheila :-)

  • Berlin Deluxxe says:

i LOVE your little furbaby! He is such a rolly polly of a guy. I can’t wait to see my Max (Brother Maximus, Chihuahua) who is patiently waiting back home at my mother’s. I can’t wait to hear more about your little guy :)

  • rebel says:

Well, it just goes to show what a great Mom you are because you obviously raised your son the right way, he knew it was the wrong thing to do to turn his back on a helpless creature.
Havin’ that sweet dog all these years and laughin’ at and lovin’ him, I bet it’s hard to imagine what you would have missed if your son had not saved him. Luckily for little Mr. Max you are a kind and lovin’ person.

  • Charity Childs-Gevero says:

Somebody was going to drown his dog because he couldn’t bring him on the plane? ….what? …what? …was he possessed with demons or something?

    For goodness’ sake!

  • kymber says:

    Muse,
What a great tablescape! You are so creative. It just goes to show – we all should step out of the box to see what we can come up with. I LOVE the frames!

Little Max is too cute. He definitely is a treasure!
Thanks for your thoughts on my blue monday post. As always, it was great to have you come by for a visit.
    Have a great day today!
    Kymber

  • Sherry says:

Using the picture frames as chargers is a fantastic idea! I want to try that. Your table looks so inviting!

  • mbkatc230 says:

I love the creative things you come up with for tablescapes. The picture frames as chargers – brilliant (since DH is a picture framer, I have to love it, right?) But the story about your Mr. Max is wonderful. I work for a vet, and it’s unbelievable how cruel and/or thoughtless some people can be. But thankfully, there are more people like you who open their homes and hearts to these little (or not so little as the case may be lol) guys. Bless you. Kathy

  • Simply Heather says:

The table setting reminds me…I was once WELL involved in the planning of a local MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group where I had the opportunity to set the tables sweetly, arrange pleasantries to the eyes. It was so much fun. Through the years, I stepped in and out of different positions; leading me to the top…the Coordinator. That I did not find so rewarding, but it enabled me to "KNOW" myself better.

Okay…forgive me for the lack of getting to the point here ;o)…beautiful table is what I meant to say (smile).

The "not so" little pup is adorable. Posing ever so nicely for the camera. A blessed little Max for sure.

AND…Again, it truly is an honor to be mentioned by you, Muse. I really appreciate the style in which you've chosen to share me ;o).

    {thank you ~ thank you}

    ♥ Heather

Wow Muse! What an unusual tablescape! But who would expect anything less from you? I love your doggie story. Three of my four kitties were literally picked up off the street. They make wonderful pets because they appreciate it so much. Have a great day! Hugs…Debbie

  • santamaker says:

Thanks for sharing your most creative and stunning tablescape. The frame idea is just brilliant, going to have to try that one! Your blog is fascinating.

  • Pan Historia says:

That was the easy solution for that student? Drowning? Hadn’t he heard of finding a home?

My son is facing the same dilemma, can’t afford to take his kitty with him, and he’s desperately running around trying to find a home for the feline.

Strange how people think sometimes, eh?

  • Lynne (lynnesgiftsfromtheheart) says:

I always enjoy your creativity and today was no exception. I don’t think I would have thought about using picture frames… I like the use of square and round dishes together and mixing it up. I always enjoy you adding nature to your tablescapes.

Max is adorable and ‘bravo’ for your son for taking appropriate action! You raised a caring and compassionate son. Max looks like a great companion and is a true treasure:)

I can’t even fathom the thought of drowning a poor defenseless animal. Your Mr. Max is just adorable. We had a Mr. Max that was a Min Pin (not so min also..lol) and he passed away in Feb. 2008 at the age of 13.

  • Joanna says:

That little dog looks just like my mom’s dog Shorty! In fact, I am pretty sure its the same type of dog. He’s so cute and makes me miss Shorty. Though I hope Mr. Max isnt such a pain as Shorty is.
