PROBLEMS AT MUSE CENTRAL! (sigh) Our blog suffered an attack of EEKINESS~ But all things happen for a reason… so I am trying to make the best out of a bad situation. And figured I would look at this onslaught of nastiness, as an opportunity to create some good. (that will teach them, right) LOL Sorry that the page links are not yet installed… However, the blogs are up. I will continue to get my “Blogger Love” buttons and Blog [...]
The options for tile are almost limitless. It is easy to be lured in to the purchase of blending tiles, creating a mix and match elaborate pattern can be very appealing. And yet, so much can be done with a singularity of choice. If budgets are of concern (and most of us know that restraint) remember to pick a tile that can make statement in regards to the feeling or style you are trying to relay for the room. For [...]
Here is a wider pan of the mantle…with my finished muse and my wisteria zinc globes…that yes, I had to paint (the ceiling is getting bead-board…can we all say hallelujah?) Tablescape Tuesday hosted by Susan By now, most of you know that the design team here loves white china! It can be used in all types and styles of spaces…from formal to casual…from modern to victorian and everything in between. Even if a style request is not what you would do for yourself, there are always lessons to learn and challenges to win! And so, we offer yet, another example The modern touch begins when the square plates are used [...]
Rules of Play: (1) I (The Muse) offer my first reader a word. (2) They must take that word and use it in a sentence. Posting it in the comment box (3) Then they must GIVE another word, whose letter starts with the last letter of the previous word…. Shall we play? The word which I gift to thee is: Customary (so the very next reader, should use the word customary in a sentence…and then offer up a NEW word, [...]
Fanciful Follies Friday ~ What If Machine
YOU …. YES, YOU !!!! Have been captured… Don’t be alarmed… Stay Calm. For these robots mean you no harm… They exude kindness, chivalry and charm. They simply need a test subject, you see… Someone to travel in their “WHAT IF MACHINE”. They offer you a questionnaire… These highly evolved, and mannerly robots… Quirky mechanisms that care… And the first inquiry is: “What if you could live ONE day, in ANY career… What career would that be & why?” Consider [...]
Do you recall the warmth of the sun… The gentle breezes… The chirping of feathered friends? Do you recall the sound of the water… The bubbling brooks… Or the swishing of the lake? Do you recall the aroma of your garden… The sounds of crickets… The buzzing of bees? Those days have gone… They are wrapped in crystal cocoon.. A very ICY, FROZEN, COLD and WINTRY cocoon! (oh, I need to change the camera date …lol oh well at least [...]
Keeping it cozy in taupe ~ The defining pieces are the chandelier, once brass…no problem, spray painted black it warms up the space. Once heavy drapes replaced now with a simple pumpkin linen. Once red brick was too brash, answer..Paint! The finale to this room was not to simply disguise a no longer used fireplace, but to make the space work…just in a different way. A custom designed unit was built to complete the “meant to always be here” look [...]

I am not really sure that you can put a specific design name to The Painted Nest. Our cottage doesn’t fall into one style category, for it reflects not only our farm life…but our outside interests. (click pics to enlarge~if you dare!) Items we have gathered on our travels here and abroad…fill our home…as well as wondrous treasures passed from generation to generation. And there are handmade treasures that tell secret stories. For years…our cottage was all white. Various shades of white…aged [...]
Monday’s Post ~ Prose & Blue Monday
When I was very young, (and still~even now) I would look at pictures ~ paintings…and make up stories! At times, they were not exactly as the artist had intended… Such is this work of a young, (oh, so young Muse), who fell under an enchanting spell of Tristan and Isolde. The Plummet A little maiden stood… Up high above the earth… The little m aid knew not… Her weight or girth… For suddenly… The sky gave way… And she fell [...]

What gorgeous pictures. All of them!
I love the views from your new home! I couldn’t figure out where you are from but the view does look a lot like Canaan Valley, West Virginia! My 5 yr old boy loved the picture of the scoop!

great pictures.
What a payoff for all that work and engineering! That view is just incredible. Do you think they would rent just a teensie weensie space on the deck for a pup tent? Just breathtaking. Thanks for stopping by, yes the picture did radiate joy – of course that was before the first college tuition bill lol. Kathy
I would die for that view…when can I move in?
Yep…it's worth all the trouble…
Thanks for your kind words and featuring my "Red, White & Blue Mom" post on your site…
Love the view! The trials you go through – but very much worth the end results!
Muse! that’s so funny what you said about “wondering why anyone would live in that area” putting up with the terrain. Because I was just talking to my eldest this morning about the ups and downs of living in the country. The peace and quiet is wonderful but it also comes with scavenging animals, trees that fall down, slithering creatures and other stuff but is it worth it for the view? You betcha! Happy Wednesday. xo Lynn
oh it looks like you have your own piece of paradise there Muse..
that view is captivating !!!
The Mother photo is wonderful..I love the red on the wall ..
They had to literally move mountains to attain exactly what they wanted, and what a great view it is.
Now regarding, “Mother”, the colors remind me of nature after a rainfall…
Great view!

Hi Muse! What anamazing view! I grew up in the Smokies and had a wonderful view from my back porch, but didn’t realize it until I moved down here where everything is so flat! lol Is that a teenage daughter I spy in the photo? Mine is 28 and has her own family now. Whew! Amazingly, I lived to tell about it!! Have a great weekend…hugs…Debbie
I can only dream of having a place like that one day! I can just see myself sitting out on that deck drinking my morning coffee and reading and taking moments to let the words really sink in by looking out at that beautiful peaceful view. I can almost smell the fresh air and feel the breeze against my face and the warmth of the sun…
I am a little late for Wordless Wednesday! I love those pictures of that view…..you can tell you are NOT in California! LOL
