~Her Chair Was Just Right~

Here is a little sitting area, at our home,  ”The Painted Nest”. We use it mostly as a place to put on and take off our shoes.

The chair, a vintage flea market find for $2.00, was in bad shape visually, but quite sound, structurally. So, The Muse was quick to grab this treasure!

Upon bringing it back to the studio…it was sanded down~stained~glazed~the cane insets, painted a crackle white~the velvet green was painted with a hand-mixed fabric dye~and lastly, a new memory foam cushion was made to fit. It is one of the most comfortable seats in the cottage (yes, the memory foam is 4 inches deep)!

Although, at first glance, the aged olive green velvet may not have appeared to work with the faded turquoise cushion material~The Muse knew that she had the inspiration of the wonderful “plate” fabric (seen as the pillow). It features roosters and hens on a variety of dish and platter shapes. The colors in this fabric (look closely) are the exact same colors  used for the revamped chair. This delightful fabric has all the colors used throughout the space. The pillow is handmade by The Muse…basic stitching with a wee bit of musey~ness, some playful brush fringe.

With all the myriad of doorways we have at “The Painted Nest”, this little sitting area, seems just right for us.

Thank you for taking time to visit,

~Love~

How beautiful! I love finds like that and then to make them my own. I am moving into my own apartment recently and have a little collection going of simple decorations from Dollar Discount, flea markets, etc, to decorate my “space” with. Waiting on the apartment to start on bigger peices like furniture, but cannot wait!! All your stuff is so lovely. You certainly have great talent!
