  • ~A Wee Bit of Fabric~

    I am not really sure that you can put a specific design name to The Painted Nest. Our cottage doesn’t fall into one style category, for it reflects not only our farm life…but our outside interests. (click pics to enlarge~if you dare!)

    Items we have gathered on our travels here and abroad…fill our home…as well as wondrous treasures passed from generation to generation. And there are handmade treasures that tell secret stories.

  • ~Thankful Thursday~

    (pictures follow) We are thankful that a marvelous Christmas season was had…one that allowed all of our family to be together, sons, daughters, grandchildren and my husband’s father.  Dad has been in the hospital for weeks now and we miss him.

    We found out today that he has begun to bleed in his stomach again. The prognosis is not good. Our hearts are low.  We think back to the last times we were all together…Christmas. A season of love. Very appropriate.

    As a gentle  turtledove.

    I dream…yes, I dream of sounds; fish splashing, birds chirping, darting to and fro…I dream of the lake…the sound of our boat churning…the grandchildren’s laughter as they swim…All those lovely sounds.
    Then, I dream of scents. The lush aromas of lovely gardens that have my mark…of raw wood that has aged for decades

  • ~ Boudoir’s Cry For Help~

    Once upon a time, (well, not so very long ago), a lovely hotel, cried out for help.
    They had an excellent staff…the cuisine was impeccable…their amenities were unsurpassed. All this was being offered to the public for a fantastic price.  And yet, they obviously needed something for their bookings had begun to fade.
    It was quite clear, from this designer’s viewpoint, the rooms (while wonderfully maintained) were dated and not in a good way.
