I am not really sure that you can put a specific design name to The Painted Nest. Our cottage doesn’t fall into one style category, for it reflects not only our farm life…but our outside interests. (click pics to enlarge~if you dare!)
Items we have gathered on our travels here and abroad…fill our home…as well as wondrous treasures passed from generation to generation. And there are handmade treasures that tell secret stories. For years…our cottage was all white. Various shades of white…aged to perfection. Over the years…the cottage became more vibrant. I cannot pinpoint the hour, the month or the year. But it happened. I still swoon over crackled weathered white. And there are plenty of pieces that adorn the cottage. But, overall…there are sunset reds…fields of gold and hues of blue.
I don’t recall planning a theme or a style. The rooms within the cottage began in the humblest of times. And became decorated in the most creative of ways. Somehow, the vibrancy and the calm all are coming together. This all explains how I ordered this…
and also ordered a bolt of earthy french linen. What will I do? I believe the colorful birdcage material will become pillows. Can anyone have too many pillows? My cottage embraces pillows like a long lost love!
The muslin will (perhaps) be turned into curtains for the breakfast room. As you can see there is plenty of color here. I am toying with the idea of trimming the muslin in color…or perhaps doing some free hand calligraphy…but as of yet, I am not 100% certain. Either way…the creation will become a Musey-fied work of art…LOL. Now, this pillow and curtain project demands I shop for some gorgeous trim! Anyone fancy a trip to France?

That bird cage fabric is fabulous. I adore that fabric (I guess it’s on a foot stool) in the first photo! Can’t wait to see what wonders you create. laurie
laurie, the top image is a large basket i turned into a foot stool
the cushion atop it is an old vintage piece of needlework that i found at a yard sale. it was incomplete. so i finished stitching and turned into a pillow top. i used memory foam for the filler
All you describe is what makes a house a home. I love your creativity in turning the elaborate needle point into a stool!
The fabric llos fun and coloraful too. What ever you make, will be fabulous.
I am game. When do we leave for Paris? Mr B lived there for several years and I would love to go explore!
I pray your dad/fil is doing better tonight and not in discomfort.:)

I love the fabric! So when do we leave for France? I’ll be in Mississippi for a wedding next week, but after that I’m game
Besides, we need to avoid detention. Did you read Mrs. Matlock’s comment lol!
I love your birdcage fabric and eagerly await your shopping trip for trim. France? Happy pillow making.
Love that French Country pillow below.

Oh my goodness….
When that bolt of French Linen arrives pa—leez photograph it up close so I can hug up to my monitor and pet it!! Yes, yes… I’m a true blue fabric enthusiast. :0)
I’ve seen that bird cage fabric and it’s a beauty too. The crackled, chipped, peeling, weathered whites are a favorite for me too…remember that *dream room* photo from your blog that I asked you if I could save? I’m still toying with that idea for our bedroom.
I’ve got those three interior solid wood doors that I’m thinking of re-purposing into a large headboard. Painting them the creamy white and distressing or just distressing the natural wood and putting a while glaze over them.
I’ve got my PiNk Saturday post up..Miss Morgan has made her entrance this week. :0)
